Updates for 2026 trash service in Walton, Indiana

The following updates were shared in a post on the Town of Walton Facebook page on Dec. 8, 2025, with a notice that these papers were hand delivered Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

Attention Walton residents:

Our last trash pick-up with Waste Management for 2025 will be on Friday, Dec. 26 due to the holiday. Please be sure to leave your empty trash tote out by the road so Waste Management will be able to pick up ALL their totes on Monday, December 29. If we could please get everyone to cooperate with WM, it would be greatly appreciated.

For the year 2026, our Trash Service will be with ONPOINT. ONPOINT will be delivering each resident 1 toter per home on December 26 or 27, we will know more the closer it gets. Our first trash pickup day will be on Friday, January 2, 2026 due to the Holiday. Our Trash will continue to be picked up on Thursday unless there is a holiday on said day. (Each home will be provided with one trash container to use for trash services. If additional trash containers are needed, ONPOINT can provide for an additional fee ($84/year).

ONPOINT will not pick up other containers, ONLY the container they provide. The Trash containers will be bright Orange.

Please be patient with us as we familiarize ourselves and they learn our route. I will provide more information as it comes along.

The trash fee on your water bill will be changing from $15.11 to $12.15 as of January 1, 2026.

You can rent an additional cart or ask additional questions by calling OnPoint Customer Service 574-228-5700. Additional carts will cost $84/year.

Your waste is serviced by trucks with automatic lifting arms, making collection efficient and safe. Please place your waste bags inside the waste cart to ensure collection. All materials must be in the tote provided by ONPOINT – no extra trash, bags, materials outside the car, or resident-owned containers will be collected.

OnPoint WILL NOT be picking up any other Company/Personal totes set out. Each resident pays for one tote, if another tote is needed it will be additional fee.

Proper Cart placement:

Place your cart at least 3 to 4 feet away from all objects including other carts, mailbox, car, tree, poles, etc. The lid opening should face the street with the wheels of the cart facing your house.

Please be sure that all trash is bagged and fit inside the cart with the lid firmly CLOSED.

Please have your trash cart at the curb the night before your regular collection day or by 5 a.m. on your pick up date. If the trash is not out, it will not be picked up.
