Carl William Wandrei Jr., 87, of Logansport, passed away December 31, 2025, at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne, IN.
Carl was born November 12, 1938, in Logansport, IN. He was the son of the late Carl and Anna (Schmidt) Wandrei.
On December 10th, 1961, in Logansport, Carl married Barbara Todd Wandrei, who preceded him in death in 2024.
Carl graduated from Logansport High School with the Class of 1957 and later earned an associate’s degree from IPFW. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his service, Carl built a long and dedicated career in Logansport, working as a Foreman in Controls.
Carl was a member of the Church of Christ at Logansport. He cherished the many trips he shared with his wife, especially their trips to Europe and a train ride out West. At home, he took great pride in tending a vegetable garden each year, always ensuring his family enjoyed its bounty. Above all, Carl delighted in the time he spent with his grandchildren and great‑grandchildren, whose laughter and presence brought him immense joy.
Surviving are his children, Jeanne Thomas, of Dundee, FL, and Terri (Randy) Bay, of Simpsonville, SC; five grandchildren, Sarah Thomas, Lindsay Gough, Sylvia Duryea, Rachel Coble, and Heather Bay; and two great-grandchildren, Jonah Gough and Aaron Gough.
Carl was preceded in death by a brother, David Wandrei, a sister Sue Sandi, and a son in law, Richard Thomas.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Carl will be held at 1p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Jeff Strite officiating.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
