Martin Luther King Jr. Day Closings and Observances

Monday, January 19, 2026 is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday. All Americans are encouraged to observe this day with appropriate civic, community, and service projects in honor of Dr. King and to visit www.MLKDay.gov to find Martin Luther King, Jr., Day of Service projects across our country.

Here are holiday closings and observances we’ve compiled:

Banks: Most banks are closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Post Office: USPS will be closed on Monday, January 19 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Trash Pickup: The next holiday that affects the Logansport trash pickup schedule is Memorial Day in May.

Cass County Government: The Cass County Government Building (courthouse) will be closed Monday, Jan. 19. The Cass County Commissioners meeting will be held Tuesday, Jan 20 at 1 p.m.

Logansport City Government Offices will be closed on Monday, January 19, 2026. Regular service will resume on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

Galveston Town Hall will be closed Monday, January 19, 2026in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and will reopen on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m.

BMV: All BMV branches will be closed Monday, January 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.Many transactions can be done online at myBMV.com or at a self-service BMV Connect kiosk 24/7.

Area Five Agency will be closed on Monday, January 19, and will resume regular operations on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

Talk to a Lawyer Day: The Cass County Bar Association and Area Five Agency will be holding their annual Talk to a Lawyer Day from 10 a.m. to  2 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2026. The event provides underserved members of the public free twenty-minute legal consultations with local attorneys via telephone. Anyone who wishes participate in the event should call Area Five at 574-722-4451 to speak with an attorney during the event.
