Winter Storm Updates for January 23-27, 2026

A significant winter weather event is expected this weekend, and with many agencies sharing information, we thought it would be helpful to offer a central location for those updates. We’ll update this post through the weekend as needed.

Weather Conditions

The Indiana Department of Transportation, Indiana State Police and Indiana Department of Homeland Security urge Hoosiers to prepare for a significant winter weather event this weekend.

The greatest impacts to travel are expected Saturday evening through Sunday morning, but impacts are expected to be ongoing due to frigid temperatures and the possibility of blowing, drifting snow.

Extremely cold temperatures and negative wind chills are forecasted Friday, January 23 through Tuesday, January 27.

Warming Center Info

Logansport Street Outreach will be activating a warming center at Calvary Presbyterian Church (701 Spencer Street, Logansport) from 8 p.m. Thursday, January 22 to 8 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2026 for unsheltered homeless individuals and families in Cass County. Intake begins at 8 p.m. each night and doors will close for the night at 10 p.m. Find more info and opportunities to volunteer on the Logansport Street Outreach Facebook page.

Notice from Walton Water Department

Due to forecasted, extreme cold weather, The Town of Walton is using a system wide “freeze warning.” It is recommended that all water and sewer customers, residential and commercial, leave their water running at a cold water faucet located inside the home or business until the town announces a stop to the freeze warning. f you have questions, please feel free to call the Town Hall office (574) 626-2941. Report and Outage

Cass County Emergency Management Agency says that should power outages occur, the best number to call is your electric provider. Many of the providers serving Cass County even have maps where you can see outages in real time with estimated restore times:

Please do NOT call the 911 center to report power outages.

Citizens are also reminded if they lose electrical power to their homes, follow all of the manufacturers safety precautions if they elect to use a generator as an alternate source of power. To avoid accidental carbon monoxide exposures,  operate generators outdoors.
