On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at approximately 6:34 p.m, Cass County Central Dispatch received a report of a vehicle crash with entrapment on US 35 at County Road 1100 South. Several deputies from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded, along with the Logansport Police Department, Galveston Fire Department, and Cass County Emergency Medical Services. An initial scene assessment revealed a three-vehicle crash that partially blocked US 35.
Preliminary investigation by Deputy Michael Thomison found that 50-year-old Tiffany Baker of Galveston, IN, had been driving northbound on US35 and stopped at County Road 1100 South to make a westbound turn. She was driving a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Jeep Grand Cherokee was rear-ended by a 2017 Nissan Altima driven by Martha Barton, a 45-year-old from Royal Center, IN. The Jeep was pushed into a southbound 2019 Chevrolet Equinox driven by 54-year-old Andrew Brooks of Converse, IN.
Martha Barton sustained serious injuries and was flown to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne after being extricated by firefighters from the Nissan Altima. Tiffany Baker was transported to Ascension Saint Vincent Hospital in Kokomo, IN, via an ambulance for her injuries. Andrew Brooks was uninjured and refused treatment at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, and alcohol is not considered to be a factor in this crash. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 574-753-7800.
