Logansport Parks & Recreation and Cass County Health Department to host National Walking Day event on April 1, 2026

Last Updated on March 29, 2026 by Cass County Communication Network

Logansport Parks & Recreation, in partnership with the Cass County Health Department, invites community members of all ages to celebrate National Walking Day on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Huston Park.

This free, family-friendly event encourages residents to take a step toward better health by coming together for an afternoon of movement, connection, and community wellness.

National Walking Day, led by the American Heart Association, is celebrated annually on the first Wednesday of April and promotes the importance of physical activity in improving overall health. Walking is one of the simplest and most effective ways to stay active, helping to reduce the risk of heart disease, improve mood, increase energy, and support better sleep.

According to the American Heart Association, adults should aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate physical activity per week, such as brisk walking, to maintain heart health and overall well-being.

National Walking Day is the perfect time to get outside, get moving, and have some fun together! Join us as we enjoy the fresh air, take in the beauty of nature, shake off stress, and boost our mood. Let’s support one another while taking steps toward healthier, happier lives—one step at a time!

Event Details:

· What: National Walking Day Community Walk

· When: Wednesday, April 1, 2026 | 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM

· Where: Huston Park, Logansport, IN

· Cost: Free and open to the public

Participants are encouraged to walk at their own pace, bring friends and family, and enjoy the benefits of outdoor activity. Walking with others not only improves physical health but also increases motivation and provides meaningful social connection.

Research shows that even small amounts of daily movement can make a difference. Walking regularly can help lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, and support mental health by decreasing stress and improving mood.

In addition, national data highlights the importance of events like this, as nearly 1 in 4 U.S. adults report sitting for more than eight hours per day, increasing health risks associated with inactivity.

This event also aligns with the American Heart Association’s “Move More, Stress Less” initiative, encouraging individuals to build healthier habits through simple, consistent movement.

Community members are invited to share their experience by posting photos or videos using the hashtag #NationalWalkingDay to join a nationwide celebration of health and wellness.
