Lorraine ‘Rainy’ Frances Dayberry, 68, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026 at Chase Center Nursing Home. She was born on September 15, 1957 in Montgomery, Alabama to Betty and Joseph Dayberry.
Lorraine joined the United States Army after graduation from high school. She later earned her degree as a surgical tech, graduating as the valedictorian of her class, and dedicated many years to her career at St Anthony’s Hospital, now Franciscan Health, in Crown Point, Indiana. She had a lifelong love of crime dramas and science fiction shows, often enjoying them while crafting, in her younger days. She devoted herself to charitable work, touching many lives with her kindness, and she carried that generous spirit through her final days.
She is survived by her mother Betty, her daughter Jenn, son-in-law Jason; her brothers Eugene and John; her grandchild; many nieces and nephew; and her beloved cat, Moomoo. Rainy was well loved and will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be April 1st from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by the funeral at 12:00 p.m., officiated by Father Clark Miller at Kroeger-Crain Funeral Home.
