Parker Abbott Memorial Scholarship expands to all Cass County schools
Last Updated on March 5, 2026 by Cass County Communication Network
Cass County, IN — The Parker Abbott Memorial Scholarship Committee is proud to announce the expansion of the Parker Abbott Memorial Scholarship to include senior students from all four Cass County school corporations: Pioneer, Lewis Cass, Logansport, and Caston.
The scholarship was created in memory of Parker Abbott, who was lost to suicide in 2022 at the age of 14. The scholarship honors Parker’s life by supporting students who have experienced mental health challenges or suicide-related experiences firsthand and by encouraging youth to share their stories through creative expression.
Updated scholarship guidelines allow applicants to demonstrate their experiences and perspectives by choosing one of the following submission options:
- A written essay
- A piece of original music
- A work of art
Scholarship funds may be used for:
- College or university expenses
- Trade school programs
- High school arts-related fees, such as band fee
Parker had a deep love for band and music, and part of the scholarship’s mission is to support students who share that passion and may need assistance participating in the arts.
Applications for the 2026 scholarship cycle are due by July 1, 2026. Scholarship recipients will be announced by August 2026, and formal acceptance will take place during the Parker Abbott Memorial Ride on Saturday, September 19 at 10:30 a.m.
The Parker Abbott Memorial Scholarship continues to promote awareness, healing, and hope while keeping Parker’s memory alive through meaningful support for local youth.
