Phyllis J. Wicker, an Earth-side Angel, was called home to fly high with our Creator on March 10, 2026.

Born on November 3, 1932, in Twelve Mile, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late George and Letha (Ulerick) Smith. She loved telling stories about life growing up on a farm with her 4 siblings.

On May 7th, 1950, she married Raymond L. Wicker, of Logansport. They were married for 50 years and had 3 sons, Robin, Jon, and Lance.

She was an amazingly gifted artist and began her journey in painting in 1962. She said it started from the “overwhelming urge to paint her children”. She’d purchase and study art books and was mainly self-taught. She would go on to paint countless amounts of portraits and win over 50 awards. Phyllis once said, “Painting is so much a part of me, that I am compelled to paint in order to feel whole”. Her art studio was her sanctuary, where she said she felt most close to her Creator. A place where she would lose all track of time and reality in the midst of oil pastels, a slew of photographs, and beautifully framed portraits.

She also loved cooking for her family. She’d spend hours preparing home cooked meals and baking the most delicious pies and cookies for gatherings. She is the epitome of Love and left a piece of light in every person she’d come in contact with. In her honor, we encourage everyone to share that piece of light with the world around you. Take the time to see the beauty in the world as she did.

Surviving are her sons, Jon Wicker (Rebecca), and Lance Wicker; daughters-in-law, Julie Dilts (Joe), and Pam Wicker; her grandchildren are Sean Wicker, Ashley Brown (Eric), Sarah Wicker, Courtney Kitchell, John Wicker (Courtni), Beau Wicker, Seth Wicker (Nicole), and Jenna Peppers (Adam). Great grandchildren include Jayla Brown, Adalyn Brown, Leah Brown, Gracie Kitchell, Christian Wicker, Jackson Wicker, Chloe Wicker, Janna Wicker, Maci Wicker, Lynley Wicker, Cameron Morrow, and Jack Peppers. Also surviving are one brother-in-law, Richard Myers; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Wicker; son, Robin Wicker; brother, Karl Smith (Divola); sisters, Marjorie Henson (John), Rosanna Scott (Richard), and Martina Howard Meyers (Jack).

A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Phyllis Wicker will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, March 19, in Fisher Funeral Chapel. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. prior to the service.

Burial, at a later date, will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
