Glen “Joe” Ealy, 94, of Galveston passed away peacefully at his home early Saturday, July 25, 2026, leaving a lifetime of memories for a family that loved him deeply. Joe had a gentle spirit and a very kind heart. He taught his family the value of hard work, integrity and showed them God’s love. Joe was born January 10, 1932, in Kokomo to Areta Ennis and Harold Ealy Sr. He married the love of his life Martha Grandstaff on January 3, 1953, in Logansport, Indiana. She preceded him to heaven on April 11, 2019. They were married for 66 years. Joe found love again later in life after Martha’s passing and married Doris Packard on September 4, 2021. She preceded him in death on December 16, 2023.
Joe graduated from Clay Township Miami Co. High School. After graduation he served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman during the Korean war. After returning from the service he worked for Midwest Plating in Kokomo for 28 years as a chrome plater. He then worked at Wilson’s foods in Logansport for another 14 and ½ years retiring in June of 1993. He attended Galveston First Baptist Church where he was a faithful servant. He was an avid IU fan, pitched horseshoes and loved watching sports. He took great pride in beating everyone at euchre. Joe also enjoyed supporting his grandchildren’s sporting events. Joe and Martha enjoyed wintering in Florida at Panama City Beach after retirement. They also enjoyed ballroom dancing together and won several awards.
In Joes final days he showed incredible strength and grace, he was surrounded with the same love and devotion that he had given throughout his life. His granddaughter Autumn along with his daughters cared for him and were thankful for every moment they shared with him, the memories will remain in their hearts forever. The family is grateful to his incredible caregivers who lovingly cared for their father with kindness and compassion, they became like family to them. The family finds great comfort knowing their father is now at peace and in the arms of Jesus, and is loved always and forever.
He is survived by his children, Glenda (Jeff) Linkenhelt of Galveston, Teri (Gary) Schultz of Kokomo, and Rhonda (Brent) Blinn of Galveston. Surviving grandchildren are Autumn Ray, Matt (Mandy) Ray, Kristen (Brock) Chapman, Austin (Stephanie) Schultz, Ashley (Tim) Keenan, Brandon (Jonathon) Blinn, Chad Jacko, Kayla (Mike) Winger, Nicole (Vincent) Patterson and Alec (Trish) Ealy. He was blessed with 15 great grandchildren. Joe also has three living brothers, Gail Ennis, John Ennis and Larry Gibson. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Martha, his second wife Doris, his only son Jeff; brothers, Ronnie, Bennie and Harold and one sister Jerri.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held Wednesday, July 29th 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Pastor Sean Cooper officiating. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Galveston First Baptist Church, 207 S. Sycamore Street, Galveston, IN. 46932 in Joe’s memory.
