Carolyn J. Zartman, 87, passed away at her home on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

Carolyn was born on March 14, 1939, in Fulton, Indiana, the daughter of Everett and Helen (Dawald) Newell. On November 14, 1956, she married the love of her life, Thomas Zartman, in Fulton, Indiana. Together, they built a life centered around their family. Thomas preceded her in death on December 31, 2009.

Carolyn was a devoted homemaker who took great pride in caring for those she loved. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and had a special love for gardening and flowers. Above all, Carolyn treasured her family. She especially enjoyed supporting her grandchildren and could often be found cheering them on at their sporting events. She was also a member of Fulton Baptist Temple.

Carolyn is lovingly survived by her daughter, Teresa Justice; sons, David Zartman and Jerry (Stephanie) Zartman; sisters, Mary Miller and Alice Leavell; grandchildren, Kyle Unger, Branden (Melea) Justice, Bradley (Amber) Justice, Thomas “TJ” Zartman, Brittany (Ethan) Sailors, and Missy Zartman; great-grandchildren, Brayden Unger, Bristol Justice, Sarah Sailors, Raylan Sailors, Boyd Sailors, and Bennett Justice; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Thomas Zartman; son-in-law, Charles V. Justice; and daughter-in-law, Penny Sue Zartman.

A funeral service celebrating Carolyn’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026, at Gundrum Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home, with Pastor Bruce Russell officiating. Burial will follow at Fulton Cemetery in Fulton, Indiana.
