Donald E. Snyder

Donald E. Snyder passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2026.

Donald was born on March 24, 1939, in Logansport, to Donald M. Snyder and Martha (Porter) Snyder. He was delivered in the front room of his maternal grandparents’ home, the Porter family home at 14th and Market, across the street from the old Berry Bowl.

Donald is survived by his wife, Ann Raub Snyder; his son, David Snyder (Heather) of Clarksville, Tennessee; and his daughters, Kathleen Snyder Tanguy of Culver, Indiana, and Raubyn Barich  (Reed) of Culver, Indiana. He is also survived by his sisters, Jill Snyder of Galveston, Indiana, and Jackie Graybeal (Bill) of Logansport, Indiana. His sister, Carol Little (Morris), preceded him in death.

Donald was the proud grandfather of nine grandchildren; Lauren Kerkhoff (Kyle), Victor Joe Tanguy IV, William Henry Tanguy (fiancée Dr. Marissa Foster), Malcolm Snyder (Chloe), Margaret Snyder, David Snyder JR., Louis Barich, Donald (Ryan) Barich (Sarah) and Beau Barich.  He also has four great grandchildren.

He attended Longfellow Grade School and graduated from Logansport High School in 1956. He was in the ROTC at Purdue University, graduating in 1960 with a degree in engineering. He and Ann were married on December 28, 1960.

Upon graduation, he served in the US Army as a first lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers and was honorably discharged. Donald worked for Western Electric for two years. He then worked for 37 years at Delco Electronics as a production engineer, retiring in 2000.  

After his retirement, Donald volunteered in various capacities with the Logansport Police Department for thirteen years and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP).

Service to his community was an important part of Donald’s life. He served on the board of directors of the Logansport YMCA and continued to volunteer for several years there. He was also on the board of directors and past president of the Cass County Historical Society. He served as an advisor at LHS with Junior Achievement. He also volunteered at the Cass County Family Opportunity Center. In Culver, he volunteered with Culver Community Schools as a math tutor.

Donald was an avid runner who logged more than 12,000 miles. He was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Logansport and The Nature Conservancy. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge Tipton 33, the National Rifle Association, American Legion Post 60, BPO Elks Lodge #66 of Logansport, VFW 6919 and the Izaak Walton League of America.  

Visitation will be at Kroeger-Crain Funeral Home August 17, 2026 from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. Followed by a funeral officiated by Reverend Dr. Dan Lute. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery Logansport, Indiana.
