Jeannette B. “Jean” Muhlethaler, 81, Logansport, Indiana, was surrounded by her loving family on Friday evening, August 21, 2026, when she passed from this life to the Heavenly Home Jesus had planned for her.
Born September 23, 1944, in St. Joseph, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Loretta (Setchel) Smith.
On December 23, 1985, Jean was married to the love of her life, Ronald Edward Muhlethaler. He preceded her in death October 11, 2021.
Jean was a longtime member of All Saints Catholic Church, and she loved Jesus, her Lord and Savior, with all her heart, her soul, and her strength.
Jean was known far and wide as a wonderful cook. She spent years serving the students of Logansport High School as a lunch lady, and later retired from the Cass County Senior Center, where she cooked with heart and purpose every single day. Jean believed happiness could be found on a plate, and she loved nothing more than sharing that happiness with others. She wrote her own recipes, taught her family the fine art of putting food on the table, and poured love into every dish she made.
She carried that same creativity into her crafts, enjoying projects of all kinds and especially her diamond art.
She is survived by four daughters: Kim (Bill) Banter, Logansport, Kelly (Russ) Campbell, Tracy Ganske, and Rae Waychunas; one brother, Jack (Madeleine) Smith; grandchildren: Niki Ramsey, Falen Murray, Karis Ganske, Chase Ganske, Alex Campbell, Athena Ross, and Taylor Waychunas; and fifteen great-grandchildren
Along with her parents and her husband, Ron, there was a glad reunion in Heaven with grandsons, David and Derek Tousignant; two siblings, Jerry Smith and Joan Cann; and Ron’s parents, Richard and Eileen May (Runnells) Muhlethaler.
Services will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jean’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
