Robert “Bob” D. Austin, 78 of Logansport passed away on August 12, 2026 at Millers Merry Manor in Logansport, IN.
He was born on October 30, 1947, in Logansport, IN to Clifford and Virginia (Mayhew) Austin. He married Valerie Cook on September 18, 1966 at the Nazarene Church in Logansport, IN. They had celebrated 59 years of marriage.
Surviving is his wife Valerie, three sons: Scott (Angie) Austin, Michael (Janet) Austin and PJ (Jean) Austin and 6 grandchildren: Kendyll (Shane) Bowling, Hannah Austin, Emma (engaged to Drew) Austin, Claire Austin, Marcus (Morgan) Austin, and Luke (engaged to Erika) Austin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Richard Austin and his sister Margaret Million.
Bob was a generous and kind man. He had a great sense of humor and was quick to smile and laugh. He loved being outdoors, cutting wood, gardening and working with his hands. He loved his family and worked hard to make his family’s lives better.
Bob worked in Logansport at Wilsons Food for 25 years. After Wilsons closure, he worked for 25 years at Indiana Packers in Delphi. He was injured while working at Indiana Packers and suffered a traumatic brain injury.
Visitation will take place on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 4:30pm to 6:30pm at Church of the Nazarene, 109 W. Clinton St, Logansport. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Gentiva Hospice and Millers Merry Manor for their care for Bob at the end of his life’s journey. They would also like to thank the multiple caregivers who showed care and compassion for Bob in his home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Nazarene.
Cremation will take place at Indiana Central Crematory owned and operated by Rans Funeral Homes.
