Marie Deal, a beloved resident of Logansport, Indiana, passed away leaving behind a legacy of immense warmth, devotion, and joy. Born on July 1, 1960, Marie was a vibrant spirit known affectionately to family and friends as “Marie”, “Rie,” “Auntie,” and “Boomboom.”

Raised in Chicago, Marie later moved to Logansport in search of a change of pace. It was there that she found the love of her life, James Maye. Together, Marie and James shared thirty wonderful years of love, partnership, and cherished memories.

Marie was a fun-loving person whose presence was undeniable. She possessed a radiant smile and a loud joyful voice that could easily fill any room. Above all, she dedicated her life to serving others, making it her mission to ensure everyone around her felt truly loved and seen. For most of her adult career, Marie devoted herself to home care for the elderly, tenderly supporting her clients through their final days. Far more than a caretaker, she became a true friend and extended family to each client and their loved ones. Most recently, she brought that same signature warmth to the local school district cafeteria, putting bright smiles on the faces of students and staff members every single day.

Marie embraced life’s simple pleasures and great adventures alike. Especially spending time with her running buddy Regina Skelton. They loved taking trips and going out to eat. She especially enjoyed Las Vegas and had a passion for shopping, finding pure joy in a brand-new pair of shoes, a sharp matching outfit, or a great handbag. She shared an unbreakable bond with her sister and best friend, La’Lue; though miles apart, the two spoke daily and spent countless hours watching Lifetime movies together from afar. At home, Marie poured her heart into caring for her beloved dog, Izzy, who was truly like a child to her.

Marie was preceded in death by her mother, Johnnie Lee Deal, her brother, Hinton Deal and dog Izzy.

She leaves behind to honor and cherish her memory the love of her life James Maye of Logansport; her sister and best friend, Mary “La’Lue” (Jackie Sr.) Spann of Chicago; along with a host of adoring nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Visitation for Marie will be September 12, 2026 from 12 Noon to 1:00 P.M., Funeral immediately following, all at Kroeger – Crain Funeral Home. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
