Steven E. Cain, 77, of Fairfield, Ohio, passed away Thursday, September 10, 2026, in Kettering Health Main Campus in Ohio.
Born January 24, 1949, in Marion, Indiana, he was the son of the late Janet (Shaver) Bingle.
Steve was a graduate of Ball State University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry.
On August 27, 1980, in Kankakee, Illinois, he was married to Kim (Valdez) Cain, who survives.
Steve worked as a maintenance manager for Wilson Foods, Logansport, IN, Dixie Foods, Forrest City, AR, Hillshire Farm and Kahns, Cincinnati, OH, and The Wornick Company, Blue Ash, OH.
In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and RV‑ing. Steve was skilled in woodworking and liked hunting for antiques. He was also an excellent cook, and he took pride in making good meals for the people he loved. Steve spent many hours bird watching in his backyard, loved God, and read his Bible regularly. He spent many hours of his life serving and helping friends, neighbors, and family members using his mechanical experience, woodworking skills, and general maintenance knowledge. He could fix anything.
Surviving with his wife, Kim, are his children: Teresa (Dane) Mathews, Whitney (Tyler) Daugherty, Stephanie (Cory) Costello, Garrett (Natalie) Cain, and Aaron (Ashley) Cain; brothers, Mike (Patty) Bingle and Rick (Chris) Bingle; sister, Penny Rude: grandchildren: Emma (Zach) Homco, Dalen Mathews, Benjamin (Olivia) Mathews, Ethan Mathews, Jack (Lauren) Daugherty, Trey Daugherty, Chase Daugherty, Tess Daugherty, Cade Costello, Jace Costello, Beck Costello, Anae Cain, Ezra Cain, and Mia Cain; brothers-in-law, Brent (DeAnna)Valdez, and Todd (Mauna) Valdez; sister-in-law, Patsy Valdez; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Janet Bingle; brother, Randy Bingle; sister, Sue Amelio, and brother-in-law, Tad Valdez.
Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2026, in Fisher Funeral Chapel, 1801 Chase Road, Logansport, Indiana.
A funeral service celebrating Steven’s life will follow at 2 p.m. with his son-in-law, Dane Mathews officiating.
After the funeral, burial will take place in Bethel Cemetery in rural Logansport.
