Thomas “Tom” “Wally” Wallace, 69, Logansport, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in Parkview North, Fort Wayne, Indiana, following surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm.

Born October 7, 1956, in Logansport, Indiana, he was the son of the late Joseph James and Miriam Louise (Good) Wallace.

Tom was a 1975 graduate of Logansport High School and furthered his education at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.

In 2012, Tom retired after 34 years of service, having served as a Deputy, Deputy Sergeant, and Detective for the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.

Tom loved the out-doors and enjoyed working as a security officer at France Park for many years.

Tom served as President of the Fraternal Order of Police #71 for several terms. He was proud of the charitable work the FOP does in this community including Shop with a Cop and the many thousands of dollars in scholarships given to local students over the years.

He enjoyed the kind of hobbies that brought people together. He spent many good nights in the local pool and dart leagues, laughing with friends and enjoying the friendly competition. Golf was another place he loved to be – out on the course, taking his time, and just enjoying the day.

Tom was one of the best. He earned the respect of his fellow officers, the many people he helped over the years, and even several he had arrested – because he never treated anyone as a lost cause. He had a way of talking to folks that made them pause and really look at their own choices. He helped them see that they were better than the moment they were standing in, and that they still had room to turn things around.

In his passing, he gave the gift of life through the Indiana Donor Network.

He is survived by his brother, Phillip Wallace; his sisters, Julia (Wes) Warner, and Linda Skinner; niece, who was like a daughter, Ashley Wallace; nieces and nephews: Michael(Misty)Wallace, Tommy A. Wallace, Casey Wallace, Daniel Wallace, Kourtnee (Mandell) Wallace, Kyle (Nicole) Wallace, Grace Degiorgio, Jim (Gwen) Skinner, Rick (Jeri Lynn) Skinner; great nephew, who was like a grandson, Elijah Wallace; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and a special friend who was like a grandson, Bryce Wolfe.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Tim and Ricky Wallace and brother-in-law, Jim Skinner.

Visitation will be held from 2 – 6 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2026, in Fisher Funeral Chapel, 1801 Chase Road, Logansport, Indiana. The FOP #71 will render a Casket Watch Honor Guard during the visitation.

At 6 p.m., the Fraternal Order of Police will conduct a memorial service, with the funeral service to follow.

Burial at a later date will be at Davis Cemetery.
