Stand UP Cass County is thrilled to announce the commencement of a new grant year, marked by enhanced community programs and initiatives that aim to foster growth, inclusion, and sustainability within our community. This new funding period will enable us to expand our reach and continue our mission of supporting local initiatives that work to address risk factors and collaborate on protective factors which are known to build a stronger, more connected, drug free, community.

This year, Stand UP Cass County has secured year 5 of DFC grant funding from the Office of National Drug
Control Policy (ONDCP) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), allowing us to support
a range of impactful projects and mobilizing various sectors including education, healthcare, youth,
parents, law enforcement, non-profits, etc. in prevention based activities. This grant will empower local
organizations and initiatives that demonstrate innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to making a
positive difference in our community.

Key initiatives for the upcoming year include:

  1. Increasing Community Collaboration: Continue to increase and diversify community members who
partner with Stand UP Cass County. Continue to grow members in each of the 12 sectors. Host,
participate, collaborate, and coordinate activities that engage community members in working
together to prevent youth substance use.
  1. Increase Public Awareness of Substance Misuse: Continue to promote and educate on risk and
protective factors in the community. Continuing to host educational workshops, trainings, or
    presentations.
  2. Continue to work through the 7 Strategies for Community Change by: providing information,
building skills, providing support, enhancing access/reduce barriers, changing consequences, physical design, and modify/change policies.
  3. Continue to grow and expand efforts of our Teams/Workgroups by: building capacity in our large
group as well as our Training and Public Engagement and Youth Empowerment Teams, and our Youth and Tobacco Prevention Workgroup, etc.

Stand UP Cass County is dedicated to fostering partnerships with local organizations, government agencies, and community members to ensure that the benefits of these resources are far-reaching and inclusive. We invite community members to join us in these efforts, whether through volunteering, collaboration, or spreading the word about the positive impact we are striving to achieve.
