INDIANAPOLIS, IN – On June 30, 2026, Indiana Gov. Mike Braun awarded more than $84 million in Community Crossings matching infrastructure grants to 147 cities, towns and counties across Indiana, bringing the total from the fiscal year 2026 call for projects to just over $165 million for local road and bridge projects.

“Indiana is the crossroads of America and Hoosiers rely on our strong roads and infrastructure to drive economic growth and strong communities,” said Gov. Braun. “I was proud to co-author the Community Crossings program when I was in the General Assembly because it encourages skin in the game from local communities and that will always generate better results.”

Cities, towns and counties submitted applications during a call for projects in October 2025. Submissions from the previous call were used to determine additional awards. Funding for Community Crossings comes from the state’s local road and bridge matching grant fund. The program has provided more than $2 billion for local road improvement projects since its inception in 2016.

“The additional $75 million from the General Assembly, plus cost favorability from the initial call for projects is allowing more locals to improve transportation infrastructure in their communities,” said INDOT Commissioner Lyndsay Quist. “These projects enhance quality of life for residents and help strengthen local tourism and economic development.”

A list of all 340 communities receiving matching funds in the FY 2026 call for projects is available here. The next call for projects will open in September.
