It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kathleen Marie (Bichl) Rostron, known affectionately as Katy to all who loved her. Katy passed away on June 20th in Culver, Indiana.

As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate her life. Born in Chicago, IL on July 30, 1942, to Warren and Marie Bichl, Katy attended Aquinas all-girls Catholic High School. She later returned to her studies as an adult, proudly earning her associate degree from Ancilla College in 1982.  She made many lasting friendships while working as an aide at the Knox School System, and truly enjoyed working summers at Culver Military Academy, where she loved being around the students and spending time near the lake.

Katy was deeply proud of her Irish heritage; a true highlight of her life was a trip of a lifetime she took to Ireland with her eldest son, Michael, to visit relatives. She was also an avid traveler who enjoyed visiting friends in the Pacific Northwest and sailing on many cruises. A devoted Chicago Bears fan, she watched almost every game and followed the team closely. Those who knew Katy will fondly remember her competitive spirit and love for card games. More than anything, what truly made Katy smile was babies! She found immense, pure joy in holding and playing with them. 

She was so proud of her grandkids; Rob (Megan), Jacob (Natalie), Emma (Isaac), Shaun, Cody, Kyle (Tannis), Evyn (Sam), Tess, Celia, Alex and Andy. They brought her much joy into her life.

Katy’s memory lives on in the family she cherished.  She is survived by her children: Kevin Rostron, Maureen (Scott) Hendron, Lauren (Brian) Frantz, Tom (Shelly) Rostron, and Regan (John) Mangun; and her sisters, Pat Allen and Carroll Brahm.

She was preceded in death by, most recently, her beloved eldest son, Michael; her parents, Warren and Marie Bichl; her sister, Mary O’Leary.

Katy, and her son Michael, will be remembered with a graveside service on Saturday, August 22, 2026 @ 1pm, at Crown Hill Cemetery, 1200 E. Lake Street Knox, IN 46534.
