Phase 3 construction of Logansport Utilities’ steel pole project expected to begin April 2027

The timeline for the third phase of Logansport Utilities’ ongoing steel pole replacement project construction to begin in spring of 2027.

Entrust Solutions Group has completed the engineering for this next phase, with the request for construction bids set to begin in October and the contract to be awarded mid January 2027.

First announced in May 2023, the utility company has been replacing old wood 69kV/13.8 kV transmission poles with new eighty-foot steel poles in selected sections of their service territory, identified as having some of the oldest infrastructure.

The third phase of the replacements will affect poles from the end of Erie Avenue on the east side of town and run near the southside of Logansport High School and Landis Elementary properties heading north on Tower Drive to Tomlinson Drive.

In 2025, the first phase of the project was completed in 2025 and included the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Fulton Street, headed west down Fulton Street to Clifton Avenue, then north on Clifton Avenue to Northern Avenue, and west down Northern Avenue.

The second phase, completed earlier this year, included from the corner of North Indian Creek Road and Northern Avenue heading south through Dykeman Park Golf Course down to Water Street. Poles were also replaced from Fulton Street heading south on Michigan Avenue to Cecil Street, then along Cecil Street to LU’s Michigan Avenue property.

The new steel poles help reduce maintenance, repairs, and replacements the current wooden infrastructure require. Phase 3 of the project is expected to begin April 2027. Any traffic alerts or scheduled power outages will be communicated in advance.
