Michele Ann Kissel, 57, Logansport, Indiana, passed away Saturday afternoon, August 29, 2026, surrounded by her family and fur babies in the comfort of her home.

Born November 23, 1968, in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Willis Lee and Mary Alta (Parker) Mathews.

On August 4, 2009, in Courtroom 4, with all four girls,the Tippecanoe County Court House, she was married to Scott Kissel, who survives. He was her “handsome country boy.”

Michele loved to read, and she kept a close watch on he beautiful flowers and the birds outside her window. The hummingbirds were her favorite, and she made sure their feeders were never empty. She liked her Harry Potter movies and Supernatural, and her dogs were part of her everyday life.

Michele was a mother to her four daughters, and over the years plenty of their friends and neighborhood kids found their way into her home and stayed in her heart. They called her “Mom,” and she loved it. To her grandchildren, she was “Nanny,” and that was the role she held closest to her heart. They were the center of her world.

Surviving with her husband, Scott, are four daughters, Amber Hume, Heather Jester, Nicole (Zachary) Miller, Alieson Parmigiano (Peter Sayarath); two stepdaughters, Jessica (Steve) Williams, and Korri (T.J.) Rutar; four grandchildren: Evy Jester, Phillip and Lillian Parmigiano, and Davina Miller; two step grandchildren, Lucas and Evan Rutar; one brother, Willis Raymond Mathews; two sisters, Wanda (Steve) Sweat and Nina Collins; two nephews and one nieces: Lance Mathews, William Sweat, and Tiffany Jacques.

She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Andrew Jester; and her nephew, Travis Mathews.

A gathering of family and friends will take place from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, September 1 Fisher Funeral Chapel. 1801 Chase Road, Logansport, Indiana.

At 6 p.m., the family will lead a time of remembrance as they share memories of Michele’s life.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Michele’s memory to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
