Roberta Irene Gordon

Roberta Irene Gordon, 97, of New Waverly, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at her home.

Born November 1, 1928, in Mt. Etna, Indiana, Roberta was the daughter of the late Amos and Roberta (Fisher) Harlan. She worked for R.B.M. in manufacturing.

Roberta was a woman of great faith who found her greatest joy in the people she loved. She was deeply loved by her family, and perhaps just as special to her was knowing how much they loved her in return. Roberta was also known for being a wonderful pie baker and for her playful sense of humor. She loved a good practical joke, especially when she was the one who managed to pull it over on someone else. Her faith, humor, and love for her family remained important parts of her life throughout her 97 years.

On February 28, 1958, Roberta married Russell Carl Gordon. Together, they shared 58 years of marriage before his passing in 2016.

Roberta is survived by her children, Timothy Eugene Gordon, James (Lila) Gordon, Linda Brown, and Vickie (Richard) Garver; grandchildren, Sarah Jane (Larry) Quaglio, Jonah Wilder, Lisa Brown, Andrew (Lisa) Garver, and William Brown; step-grandchildren, Travis (Naomi) Rombold and Trista (Jim) Cron; 16 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Rose Kelly, Dale Harlan, and Robert Harlan.

In addition to her parents and husband, Russell, Roberta was preceded in death by her sons, Nicholas and Douglas Gordon; and sisters, Cora Kern and Ruth Thorton.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Gundrum Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Ever Rest Memorial Park.
