Margot Sherman, 88 of Logansport, Indiana, passed away Monday, September 7, 2026, in Cedar Creek of Logansport – Assisted Living.
Margot wrote her own obituary many years ago when she preplanned her funeral:
I, Margot Sherman, was born January 5, 1938, in Greisheim by Darmstadt, Germany, to Katharina (Kissinger) Löwenguth and Karl Friedrich Löwenguth. Both are deceased.
I had a sister, Irmgard Henssel, and her husband, Heinz. Both died in their 30’s-40’s when their boys, Ernst and Harald Henssel, were very young – only in their teens. I had a brother, Ludwig, and his wife, Irma. My sister and brother both died of cancer. I made many trips to my hometown for my class reunions and reunions of my many cousins and my family.
Before moving to America, I worked as a nanny for two families in England. The first family was in Ascot near Windsor Castle, and the second family was in Plymouth in southern England. I arrived in Logansport in 1963 on a very snowy day.
I was married to Louis Sherman from 1962 to 2018, He preceded me in death in October, 2021.
I have one son, Dean A. Sherman and his wife, Melissa Sherman; and one daughter, Karina (Sherman) Fauble and her husband, Paul Fauble. I have nine grandchildren:Tyler (Lindsey) Sherman, Zach (Dalton) Babb, Josh (Shydale) Babb, Nick (Brooke) Fauble, Amanda (Caylan) Pickford, Amber (Dustin) Lemieux, Ashley (Taylor) Pruiett, Reece (Lexus) Fauble and Ryan Fauble; and seven great-grandchildren and on the way.
I was very active at Trinity Lutheran Church teaching Sunday School and Summer Bible School. I had taken trips to the Dakotas with the older kids from church. I also attended many church conventions.
I worked at Franklin School (3 buildings) and in December of 1975, I began a 29-year career at Logansport High School as a secretary, retiring in June 2000.
I had the opportunity to travel to many countries with the German teacher and his students and the art teacher who planned many trips to Europe, England, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Holland, France, Italy, Belgium and Spain. I also traveled locally with our church organist, and we also visited Alaska together. Some of my travels included Hawaii, Mexico and Australia.
The last trip I’ll make is to see Jesus in Heaven.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Friday, September 11 in Fisher Funeral Chapel. The funeral service celebrating my life will begin at 11 a.m. Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made out to the Emmaus Mission Center.
