John Wesley Henry, 94, Logansport, Indiana, passed away Friday morning, September 11, 2026, in Miller’s Merry Manor. .

Born December 19, 1931, in Logansport, he was the son of the late George and Nannie (Handy) Henry.

John was a graduate of Logansport High School. For eight years, John served with the United States Army – Indiana National Guard.

He was married to Helen Joan (Slonicker) and she preceded him in death in 1991.

John was retired from J.C. Penney’s Department Store. He loved writing poetry and was very skilled as an artist. He was active in the Logansport Art Association, the Cass County Historical Society, and Cass County Council on Aging.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Albert Lee Henry, Raymond Henry, Dorothea Ellison, and Bernice Swigart.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Logansport First Church of the Nazarene, 109 West Clinton Street. A funeral service celebrating John’s life will begin a 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Allen officiating.

Burial, with military honors, will be held at Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Logansport 1st Church of the Nazarene.
