Energy Assistance Applications are still being accepted for 2016-2017 Heating Assistance

areafiveAs the weather gets colder, Area Five Agency on Aging & Community Services would like to remind the community that we are now accepting applications for enrollment in the 2016-17 Energy Assistance Program (EAP).  Families have the opportunity to submit one application during the program year, which began October 1, 2016, for a one-time assistance with their heating bills during the winter.  Applications are accepted one time per heating season, October 1, 2016 through May 12, 2017, as long as funding permits.  To make an appointment for a disconnect notice or request an application for Energy Assistance, please call 1.800.654.9421 or 574.722.4451.

Visit  www.areafive.com and click on “Families” tab for Energy Assistance Program details.  Information available online includes a printable EAP application (also available here) with a listing of required documents to complete the application, income guidelines, energy savings tips and ideas for your home, and the energy education survey you complete to get your FREE energy saving kit.  The Energy Saving Kits are available to families that have been approved for Energy Assistance and participate in an Energy Education opportunities to conserve energy in the home.  Participation can be completed from the comfort of your home, online, or face-to-face in our office. For a face-to-face appointment, please call 1.800.654.9421 or your local Area Five Agency on Aging & Community Services office.  Energy efficient items in kits vary every year, but type of items may include compact florescent light bulbs or LED light bulb, thermometers, faucet aerators, etc.  All kits must be picked up at the local office by you or your authorized representative listed on the survey.
