Jerry E. Marlatt

marlattJerry E. Marlatt, age 82, Logansport, passed away at 2:35 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Community Howard Hospital, Kokomo.

Born January 3, 1933, in Logansport, he was the son of Edward and Edna F. Steinman Marlatt. When Jerry was seven years old, his father Ed passed away in a traffic accident in Wabash. His mother later married Gene Sherman, who became equal to a father to Jerry. Jerry’s children regarded Gene as a grandfather.

On June 27, 1959, he was married to Edna J. Busch, who survives, in Logansport.

Jerry was retired from the tool & die department at Small Parts. He was later employed at the Logansport Wal-Mart.

A 1951 graduate of Logansport High School, he served in the United States Air Force. He had been a member of the VFW Post 3790.

For twenty years Jerry coached Little League Baseball including the year when his Coca-Cola sponsored team won the state championship. He also served as president of the Little League organization. He was a fan of IU basketball,
Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Cubs.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Lisa (Larry B.) Hood, Logansport, and son, Gene Marlatt, New Castle; grandchildren, Mariah Hood, Riley Marlatt, Kathryn Marlatt, and a great grandson, Mayson Kyle Marlatt.

Also surviving are two aunts, Irene Jorden and Pearl (Pat) Speitel, as well as many nieces and nephews and several cousins.

The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2015, at Kroeger Funeral Home, with Pastor Jim Roach officiating. Military honors will be accorded just prior to the funeral service.
