Mary Pennington Riley

Mary Pennington Riley, age 91, Logansport, passed away at 4:40 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, in her West Side residence.

Born September 13, 1923, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Fred and Florence Neher Pennington.

In December 11, 1964, in Columbus, Ind., she was married to Jack Parker Riley, who preceded her in death on January 10, 1983.

Mary had been employed at Fasnacht’s Jewelry Store as a clerk, and later at the Golden Rule Department Store as a buyer.

A 1941 graduate of Logansport High School, she had been a member of Delta Chi Sigma sorority, the American Legion Post 60 Auxiliary, Cass County Historical Society and many animal  humane societies.

An animal lover, especially of dogs, Mary’s current dog was named Max. She was also fond of Big Band music, with Eddy Howard being her favorite. Mary was an avid fan of the Indiana Hoosiers and the Indianapolis Colts. Mary had been a member of the former West Side Presbyterian Church in Logansport.

Surviving, are a cousin, Jeannette Dusseau, Wasilla, Alaska, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Matilda Pennington.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2015, at Kroeger Funeral Home, with Rev. Chuck Compton officiating.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., also on Friday.

Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
