Orvanda M. Bard

bardOrvanda M. Bard has gone to meet her Lord. She left this world on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 12:58 p.m. from her residence.

Orvanda was born on August 15, 1931 in Cass County, Indiana to the late Everett and Esta Mae (Wieand) DeWitt.  On March 25, 1950 in Logansport she married James “Jim” Bard who preceded in death on December 9, 1996.

Mrs. Bard retired from Alpha Industries after twenty five years of service. She was a 1949 graduate of Royal Center High School, she was also a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. Orvanda enjoyed playing the piano and singing, especially in trios. She loved reading and spending time with all of her grandchildren.

Surviving are two sons, Steve (Jackie) Bard, Bluffton; Randy (Gloria) Bard, Logansport; four grandchildren, David (Brianna) Bard, Monroe, IN; Seth (Brittany) Bard, Decatur, IN; Rachel (Rick) Tabler; Andrea Bard, both of Logansport; nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Gilbert (Judy) DeWitt; Wendall (Carolyn) DeWitt, both of Logansport; sister, Ardath Slack, Colorado; and her special care giver, Sue Walker, Logansport.

She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the First Church of the

Nazarene with Pastor Jeff Allen and Dr. Horace Smith officiating. Burial will be at the Bell Center Cemetery at Bell Center.

A visitation will be held from 2-7 pm Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in the Gundrum Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Memorials may be made to the First Church of The Nazarene, Guardian Angel Hospice or Gideon’s International.
