Four Ivy Tech Kokomo Region students named to All-Indiana Academic Team

Four students from Ivy Tech Community College Kokomo Region have been named to the All-Indiana Community College Academic Team. They will be among students from around the state honored April 21 at an awards banquet in Indianapolis, sponsored by the Ivy Tech Foundation.  Kokomo Campus students Sean Coffey and Madona Smyser and Logansport Campus students Jaime Heineman and Cathi Woodward are All-Indiana Academic Team members.

Sean Coffey

Coffey, who lives in Kokomo, graduated from Ivy Tech in December with an Associate of Science degree and a Technical Certificate in Accounting. He plans to transfer to Indiana University Kokomo (IUK) to continue his education this fall.

Madona Smyser
Madona Smyser

Smyser, who lives in Michigantown, is a student in Ivy Tech’s Nursing program in Kokomo. After graduation later this year, she plans to transfer to IUK in the future.

Jaime Heineman

Heineman, who lives in Logansport, will graduate this spring with an Associate of Science degree in Liberal Arts. He will be transferring to Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) this fall and plans to major in psychology.

Cathi Woodward
Cathi Woodward

Woodward, who is from Flora, will also graduate this spring with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Office Administration. She will be pursuing employment with plans to transfer to Western Governors University (WGU) in the future.

Students on the state team are nominated to the All-USA Community College Academic Team, and scholarship winners will be announced at the April 21 banquet. The academic competition, which scores students on academic honors, activities including leadership and work experience, and an essay, is sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society for two-year colleges; USA Today; and the American Association of Community Colleges.
