Jarvis W. Trainer

trainerJarvis W. Trainer, age 89, Logansport, passed away at 6:35 a.m., on Sunday, April 19, 2015, in Chase Center.

Born in Bradley, Ill. on May 4, 1925, he was the son of Edward and Elvira Lewis Trainer.

On March 20, 1948, he was married to Betty Evers, who survives, residing in Kokomo.

Jarvis was retired from Rockwell International.  He was a United States Navy veteran, having earned the Purple Heart as well as the following ribbons, American Area, Asiatic Pacific Area, Philippine Liberation and World War II Victory.

Jarvis and his wife, Betty, enjoyed walking to McDonald’s and playing euchre. He greatly enjoyed his family and three generations of grandchildren. He also enjoyed his dogs. Jarvis had been a member of the former Logansport Eagles.

Also surviving are sons, Robert (Karen) Trainer, Mishawaka, William (Kim) Trainer, and Kevin (Kristine) Trainer, all of Logansport; daughters, Bonnie (Robert) Abney, Nicholasville, Kentucky, and Carol (Kelly Moses) Trainer, Indianapolis; brother, Paul Trainer, Mississippi; sister, Almeda Clark, Elkhart, a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

The visitation will be at Kroeger Funeral Home on Thursday, April 23, 2015, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, April 24, 2015, also at the funeral home, with Rev. Mike Osborn officiating.

Burial, with full military honors, will be at Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
