harkin Michael C. Harkin, 94, Logansport, passed away at 1:25 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2015, in Blair Ridge Health Campus, Peru.

Born February 8, 1921, in Howard County, to the late Michael and Bertha (Lentner) Harkin.

During World War II, Mike served as a Tech Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force where he was in charge of a crew of men who maintained radar in the B-29’s in Saipan.

Mike worked as a realtor for many years. He was a skilled glass artisan. Mike enjoyed dancing with the Senior Citizen group and the Crown Point dance team. He was also very talented in drawing.

Surviving are three children: James “Jim” Harkin (wife Debbie) of Peru, Kristi Jill Forshee of Logansport, and Cheryl Jane Herrell, of Tucson, Arizona; six grandchildren, Kim Popoff, Kate Jones, Mike Harkin, Jacob Byers (wife Chrissy), Benjamin Byers and Cherri Stollings (Jon); and seventeen great-grandchildren: Julien, Isabella, Jimmy, Aubrey,Avery, Alexandria, Jace, Jazmin, Jenna, Matthew, Bailey, Mae, Devanie, Taren, Addison, Zeke, Will, Zoie Jean and David Lee.

He was preceded in death by two sons-in-law Anthony Forshee and Ricky Herrell, one brother Doug Harkin, one sister Billy Sue Fisher and one grandson Ronald Lee Justice.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Michael C. Harkin will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015 in Fisher Funeral Chapel. The Cass County Honor Guard will present military honors at the start of the service followed by a time of remembrance as Jim, Kristi Jill and Cheryl Jane pay tribute to their father. Friends may call from 11:30 until the time of the service.

Inurnment will follow in the Corinth Brethren Cemetery near Twelve Mile.

Cremation has been entrusted to Fisher Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services.
