Wirt A. Rogers

Wirt A. Rogers, 97, of Logansport formerly of Lucerne passed away at 9:07 a.m., Friday, April 10, 2015 at Pleasant Escape Assisted Living in Logansport.
Born on October 22, 1917 in Barren County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Clarence E. and Betty J. (Wheeler) Rogers. On April 17, 1945, he married Elma C. Pinder. She preceded him in death on July 31, 2011.
Wirt was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran where he served in the South Pacific.
He was a lifelong member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Lucerne prior to its closing and a current member of All Saints Catholic Church. Wirt was also a member of the VFW Post #3790 and the Logansport Eagles. Wirt enjoyed wintering in Florida with his wife and spending time with his family.
He retired in 1981 from Rockwell as an electrician.
Survivors include son, Philip Rogers (Judy) of Royal Center, daughter, Delores A. Kelly, of Ft. Wayne and grandchildren, Mark Kelly (Audra) of Noblesville, Eric Rogers (Darlene) of Indianapolis, Mick Kelly (Linda) of Ft. Wayne, Staci Townsend (Jimmy) of Delphi, Scott Rogers (Melinda) of Royal Center, and Jason Rogers (Delilah) of Royal Center; 18 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Wirt was also preceded in death by sisters, Verna Fellers and Maggie Wilkens and brother, Thurman Rogers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at All Saints Catholic Church with Father Michael McKinney officiating.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 13, 2015 at Marocco-Rans Funeral Chapel where there will also be a Scripture Service at 6:30 p.m.
Burial with Military Rites will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Catholic Church and/or Great Lakes Hospice.
