Sarah Jane Crimmins

crimminsSarah Jane Crimmins, 82 of Lucerne, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Woodbridge Health Campus in Logansport.

Born on January 28, 1933 in Harrison Township, Indiana she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Esta (Mellinger) Herd.  On August 19, 1951 in the Indian Creek Christian Church she married Richard Crimmins, who survives.

Sarah Jane was a farmer’s wife. She was a 1951 graduate of Lucerne High School. She has served as a  4-H leader since 1951.  Sarah Jane was a former President of the Pioneer School Board where she served for twelve years. She was an Indiana State Fair board member for four years, served two terms on the Cass County Council, was a County women’s leader of Cass County Farm Bureau and District Treasurer of Farm Bureau.  Sarah Jane was a very active in the Cass County Republican Party and a lifetime member of Indian Creek Christian Church.

Surviving along with her husband Richard, are two daughters, Susie (Tom) Runkle, Fulton; Jane (Michael) Jordan, Johnson Creek, WI; two sons, Herd (Loisann) Crimmins, Lucerne; Gilbert (Mindy) Crimmins, Remington, IN; eleven grandchildren, Kem Crimmins, Bronx, NY; Kitten (Trey) McClain, Evansville; Krystal (Chris) Howard, Logansport; Jeff (Donna) Runkle, Rochester; Greg (Laura) Runkle, Macy; Amy (Corey) Calvert, Rochester; Rebecca J. (Ted) Mueller, Watertown, WI; Nicole L. (Andy) Wagner, Lisbon, WI; Adam Crimmins, Lucerne; Austin (Kassidy) Crimmins, Mishawaka; Brandon (Lisa) Crimmins, Indianapolis; 28 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including two special nephews, David and Darrell Herd.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Esther Kliene; two brothers, Elmer and Paul Herd; two grandchildren, Andy and Noel Crimmins; one great grandchild Addison Jay McClain.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 PM on Sunday, May 31, 2015 in the Indian Creek Christian Church, Harrison Township of Cass County, with Jeff Strite officiating. Burial will follow in the Indian Creek Christian Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 8:00 PM on Saturday, May 30 in the Gundrum Funeral Home, Logansport, IN, and one hour prior to the service in the church.

Memorials may be made to the Cass County 4-H Association.
