Barbara Long Crowder, age 71, Maryville, TN, formerly of Logansport, passed away at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville on October 8, 2014, with her two children at her side.
Born August 7, 1943, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Lowell R. and Mary L. Bennett Long.
Barbara graduated from Logansport High School and attended Butler University. She worked briefly for Trans World Airlines in Chicago before moving to Maryville, Tennessee, in 1965. There she raised her children, served on many community boards and was an avid volunteer for the city.
Survivors include a daughter, Kelly Thompson of Nashville, TN; son, Michael Thompson and wife Dana, of Morristown, TN; and grandchildren, Ross, 20, and Anna, 17, also of Morristown, TN; brother, Charles Stephen Long of Carrolton, GA; brother, Gregory Alan Long and wife Teresa of Savannah, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives are invited to a graveside service being held on 11:00 am Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Mount Hope Cemetery, with the Rev. Ken Smith officiating.
