Roger G. Barr, age 68, Logansport, passed away at 6:11 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Memorial Hospital.

Born September 20, 1946, in Logansport, he was the son of Glen Fisher and Edith Leach Barr.

On August 12, 1980, in Logansport, he was married to Cathy King, who survives.

Roger grew up on the farm tending to crops and livestock. He was engaged in farming much of his life. Roger had also been employed at NIPSCO at the wells in Royal Center. In 1983 he began part-time employment with Logansport Marsh Supermarkets, became full-time, and retired as head meat cutter in 2011.

Roger was a member of the first class to graduate from the new Pioneer High School. He then attended Fort Wayne Business College for two years when he had to return to the farm to assist his parents.

Roger was known as a man everyone liked with a terrific sense of humor with wry one-liners. He always had a story and did not have a bad word to say about anyone. He spoiled his 15-year-old Siamese cat, “Sammey Lo.”

He loved to hunt, fish and trap. Roger was a life-long member of Shiloh Christian Church.

He was a great father, husband and friend. He will be deeply missed by his family and his friends.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Kim (David) Minichiello, Windermere, FL, son, Eric Hunter (fiancé Tracy Pugh), Logansport, granddaughter, Alaina Minichiello; a close first cousin, Gene Barr and second cousin, Shannon Barr.

A Private Christian Committal Service will be conducted at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery.

In Roger’s memory, memorial contributions may be made to A Cause For Paws, PO Box 1402, or Cass County Humane Society, 700 Water Street, both of Logansport 46947.
