Jack A. Rice

riceJack A. Rice, age 80, Clymers, passed away at 4:20 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born August 16, 1934, in Logansport, he was the son of Cecil and Pearl Amoss Rice.

Jack retired in 1993 as chairman of the Mathematics Department at Logansport High School. He had taught mathematics and algebra for many years to generations of students.

A 1952 graduate of Logansport High School, Jack earned an A.B. degree from Ball State University and a M.S. degree from Purdue University.

He served in the Indiana National Guard.

Jack was a 50 year member of Tipton Masonic Lodge #33, York Rite and Fort Wayne Scottish Rite. He was also a staunch supporter and long-time member of the National Rifle Association.

He had been the organist at Trinity Episcopal Church until recently, where he was also a member. Jack had also played the organ previously at Trinity Lutheran Church. Jack was proud of holding a Service Playing Certificate from the American Guild of Organists.

There are no immediate survivors. His church family survives, as well as friends, Myron Sink, Delphi, and Bert Chambers, Logansport.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Kroeger Funeral Home, where there will be a Tipton Masonic Lodge service at 7:30 p.m.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at Trinity Episcopal Church, with Father Clark Miller officiating. Gary Ramer will be organist.

Full interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
