Steven D. Alma

almaSteven D. Alma “Maddog”, 62, of Royal Center passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne.

Born on February 12, 1953 in Logansport, he was the son of the late Robert and Dorothy (Hoover) Alma.

Steve was a 1971 Pioneer High School graduate.

On August 14, 1971 he married Deloris “Lorie” Newell.

Steve retired in 2004 from Nipsco after 33 ½ years.  He was also a farmer.

He was a member of Caley and White Oak United Methodist Churches.  He was also a member of SOAR and he enjoyed fishing and going to concerts.  He was an avid fan of Herman’s Hermits featuring Peter Noone and Tommy James and the Shondells. Steve also enjoyed playing “Santa” at Christmas time, traveling, going to breakfast at McDonald’s, drinking coffee with his retired Nipsco friends and most of all spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Deloris “Lorie” Alma of Royal Center, daughter, Karrie Barber (Tim) of Logansport, son, Keith Alma (Ashley) of Royal Center, brother, Randy Alma (Trena “Jeanie”) of Royal Center, and grandchildren, Courtney Barber and Tyler Barber both of Logansport and Lincoln Alma and Jon Alma both of Royal Center.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel with Pastor Doris Smith officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m., Friday, July 31, 2015 at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Pro Cemetery, Headlee.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and/or the National Parks Conservation Association.
