The Cass County Community Foundation will host a “callout meeting” on Wednesday August 19th at 5:00pm in the Ivy Tech Community Room. The purpose of this meeting is to gather interested organizations and individuals who already may have plans or might wish to participate in planning a unified county-wide year of celebrating our state’s 200th birthday.
Deanna Crispen, CCCF President said, “Each year, our community hosts several festivals and events which help bring people together and celebrate what is special about Cass County. The majority of those events are planned and produced by volunteers and require many man-hours. As our Board continued discussing the upcoming Indiana Bicentennial Celebration, the decision was made to appropriate funds to help bring the various groups and organizations together to coordinate and hopefully provide an umbrella of support for all the good works that may surface during the next few weeks of planning.”
The Indiana Bicentennial Commission has also provided some framework with their Four Key Pillars: History & Celebration; Youth & Education; Nature Conservation; and Community Involvement. It is the hope of the Community Foundation that existing organizations which share these interests will attend and participate.
