CCCF names Back Home Again scholarship recipients at Scholarship Sendoff Party

The Cass County Community Foundation announced the recipients of the 2015 Back Home Again in Indiana Scholarships tonight. This year, scholarships in the amount of $1000 were awarded to four non-traditional recipients.
“We are so pleased to be able to continue offering financial assistance to our adult students,” CCCF president Deanna Crispen announced. “It is our hope that in addition to providing financial assistance, the awards will inspire our recipients to continue their pursuit of a degree.”
The four adults receiving the 2015 awards are Janet “Eileen” Beck, Maria Banuelos Cortes and Tracy Pugh, all attending Ivy Tech Community College in Logansport, and Kayla Valdez who attends Trinity University. This scholarship is specifically designed to assist Cass County’s non-traditional students, such as those who are entering or returning to college after raising a family or pursuing a career. All four plan to continue to live and work in Cass County.
The pizza party for 2015 scholarship recipients and their families, as well as donors, board members and volunteers at Ivy Tech’s community room was attended by over 100 people included several 2015 scholarship recipients and their family members as well as many scholarship fund founders. Students attending were eligible to receive door prizes ranging from college necessities and supplies to the top prize of a $200 gift card. This year, the Cass County Community Foundation awarded over 111 scholarships totaling over $272,550.
