dewittRaymond L. DeWitt, 85, of Monticello passed away at 8:35 a.m., Thursday, August 13, 2015 at IU Health White Memorial Hospital in Monticello.

Born on March 20, 1930 in Royal Center, he was the son of the late George and Hazel (Crail) DeWitt.

Raymond was a 1949 Royal Center High School graduate.  He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953.

On October 29, 1954 he married Bobbie L. Surrett, she survives.

He retired from the Indiana State Police in 1978 and the Indiana Toll Road in 1997.

Raymond was a member of the American Legion, Monticello and he enjoyed computers, boating, riding his John Deere tractor, building homes, watching Joel Osteen and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie DeWitt of Monticello, daughters, Kimberly K. Boucher of Waverly, Illinois and Carolyn J. Johnson (Ray) of Danville, sons, Eddie L. DeWitt (Deborah) of Frankfort and Jeffrey A. DeWitt (Gale) of Indianapolis, brothers, Walter C. DeWitt of Logansport and Charles “Mickey” DeWitt (Gloria) of Portland, Oregon. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by brothers, Stanley DeWitt and Don DeWitt and sisters, Betty Reynolds and Donnabelle Pugh.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 17, 2015 at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, 304 S.  Chicago St., Royal Center.  Pastor Donna Simmons will be officiating.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, August 16, 2015 at the funeral home.

Burial with Military Rites will be performed at the Royal Center Cemetery.
