carterfuelCarter Fuel Systems today announced that the company will lay off 111 full-time, permanent employees at the company’s manufacturing and assembly facility in Logansport, Indiana.

Impacted employees and representatives of the United Steelworkers Local 4863 were notified this week, and the downsizing process will take 60 days. Affected employees will receive outplacement services.

Carter’s operations in Logansport will continue to support more than 550 original-equipment manufacturers and aftermarket customers across North America. Carter also operates an assembly, packaging and distribution facility in Brownsville, Texas.

“We are deeply grateful to our employees and the members of United Steelworkers Local 4863 for their hard work and dedication to serving our customers, but we have made this difficult, necessary business decision as we phase out our manufacturing of older product lines due to shifts in market demand,” said Alston German, general manager for Carter Fuel Systems. “We remain committed to the Logansport area, where we are investing in the infrastructure and tooling equipment that will support the development of new products and propel long-term growth.”
