Deb A. Barkas, 48, Idaville, passed away at 8:43 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2015, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in White County.
Born March 22, 1967, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Nicholas and Patricia Bundy Barkas. Her mother, Patricia Bundy McAfee, survives.
Deb had been employed as an account administrator and bookkeeper for Knox Accounting Service. Most recently she had been employed at ADM.
Deb was a loving Mother, Daughter, Sister, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend to all. Her companion Jeremy said, “She is the best woman and partner, or mother anyone could ever have.” She enjoyed horseback riding and rescuing four legged creatures; but most of all she loved spending time with
her family and friends. We will miss hearing her cheers and encouraging words that shouted out to us her children, “Everything’s going to be alright.” or “I got this.” “We will miss hearing her voice above all the other voices that helped us all make it through each time we stepped out onto the field.

Surviving are her children, Shawn Lee (Kylie) Delaney, Colliers, WV, Kayla Rae Steineman and Jacob Jude Steineman, Logansport; Deb’s companion, Jeramy Ohrt and his daughter, Hanna and son, Jesse; step-mothers, Diana Barkas, Morehead City, NC, and Sharon Patton, Clymers; step-father, Jack McAfee, Forest, IN; granddaughter, Addison Delaney.
Also surviving are brothers and sisters, Irene (Estill) Maddox, West Lafayette, Barbra (Josh) Frechette, Indianapolis, George (Lori) Barkas, Logansport, Thomas (Cathy) Barkas, Clymers, Michael Barkas, Morehead City, Nicolina (Bruta) Murrell, Gregg (Connie) McAfee, Brownsburg, Gayle (Dean) Hicks, Indianapolis; nieces and nephews, Joey Waymire, Sampson Best, Patrick Best, Gilbert Best, Ashley Barkas and Nicholas Barkas; great niece, Hannah Murrell.
Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, at Kroeger Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2015.
Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
