Wayne R. Berry

berryWayne R. Berry, 83, of Royal Center passed away at 4:20 p.m., Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Logansport Memorial Hospital.

Born on June 1, 1932 in Cass County, he was the son of the late George and Grace (Barr) Berry.

Wayne was a 1950 graduate and Valedictorian at Royal Center High School. He was also a graduate of Purdue University’s Ag Short Course.

On August 30, 1953 he married Lois V. Schmaltz, she survives.

He was a United States Army veteran, serving from 1952-1954 during the Korean Conflict.

Wayne was a lifelong farmer.

Wayne was a member of the Royal Center United Methodist Church and Royal Center Masonic Lodge.

He was an avid fan of Purdue Basketball and the Chicago White Sox.  He loved to share stories with his grandchildren and attend their sporting events.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Berry of Royal Center, sons, Dean Berry (Peggy) of Royal Center, Gary Berry (Janice) of Macon, Illinois and Brad Berry (Sue Ann) of Monticello, sister, Betty Goodrich (Howard) of Royal Center and brother, Jon Berry (Nancy) of Royal Center, grandchildren, Amanda Kennedy (Charlie), Kent Berry (Caity), Jennifer Williams (Brandon), Chad Berry (Stephanie), Scot Berry (Sharlie) and Adam Berry (Krystle). He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren with one more on the way and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by sister, Jane Wallis.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Royal Center Chapel with Cara Keay officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at the funeral home where there will be a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m.

Burial with military rites will be performed at Mount Hope Cemetery in Logansport.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
