Born in Crawford County, she was the daughter of the late Delbert and Bessie (Gilliland) Curl.
On February 15, 1964, she was married to Francis Bowyer who preceded her in death May 21, 2000.
In 1985, Dorothy was retired from General Tire after 34 1/2 years as a quality control specialist.
Dorothy enjoyed camping, fishing and cooking.
Surviving are one daughter, Janice Lee(Keith)Kistler of Lafayette, six grandchildren: Jolene (Robert) Bell of Rochester, Ricky Kistler of Logansport, Steve Kistler, Colleen Kistler and Kristin Rushinsky, all of Lafayette and Kevin Kistler of Kokomo; ten great-grandchildren; and nineteen great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Bud Curl and sisters, Agnes Huddleston, Hazel Burkett and one grandson Brian K. Kistler.
A funeral service celebrating the life of Dorothy Bowyer will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Dawn Fisher officiating.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the service Friday in the funeral chapel.
Interment will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
