George J. Roland

George J. Roland, 70, of Logansport, passed away Monday, January 22, 2016, in his home.

Born January 9, 1946, in Logansport, he was the son of the late Willie and Frances (Sullivan) Roland.

On July 26, 1975, in Delphi, he was married to Rose Anne Olejniczak Roland, who preceded him in death on June 29, 2002.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, George served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1970.
George was the owner of George Roland Contracting, Inc.

He was a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 323. George was a member of the B.P.O. Elks No. 66. An avid outdoorsmen, George enjoyed hunting, camping, and traveling.

Surviving are six children and their spouses: Bret and Amy Roland of Logansport, Betty and Kevin Podschun of Burnettsville, Blayne Cooper (Chris Cook) of Columbia City, Deb and Mike Roland and Cindy and Brian Coe, all of Logansport and Denise and Dave Hellyer of Green Castle; one sister, Carol Weaver; twenty grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by eight brothers; three sisters and one one great-granddaughter.

Visitation will be held on Sunday January 24, 2016 from noon 4 p.m.  An Elks memorial service will take place at 4 p.m. in Fisher Funeral Chapel.

A private service, with military rites, will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cass County Honor Guard. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel.
