GET TO KNOW: Civic Players of Logansport

We want people to know about all the great things our community has to offer, so we’re inviting every business, organization and program in Cass County to be featured on Cass County Online.  All you have to do is tell us about yourself.

Civic Players of Logansport LogoToday’s featured organization is Civic Players of Logansport, our hometown’s community theater group.

Since 1958, Civic Players of Logansport has provided live theater to Logansport, showcasing the talents of citizens of Logansport and the surrounding communities.

We are a 100% volunteer organization, no paid staff at all!  In addition to people who appear onstage, we are always in need of volunteers to assist with other production-related responsibilities such as directing, set-building, costuming, props, playing in the pit orchestra for musicals … and we ALWAYS need audience members!  Our typical season consists of a spring musical and two non-musicals.  Season tickets are an excellent value, or tickets can be purchased for individual productions.

How can people get more involved? ATTEND OUR SHOWS!  Purchase season tickets or tickets to individual productions and come support your local theatre group!  Volunteer to help with a production or serve on a committee.  Purchase an ad in a show program — it’s a great way to get your name in front of prospective customers.  Participate in our various fundraisers (like MarshCares, Applebee’s Dine to Donate, etc.).  And please SUPPORT THE ARTS LOCALLY — not just Civic Players productions but also live performances at various venues, arts festivals (such as Art on the Avenue, presented by Cass County Arts Alliance), and other opportunities such as exhibitions at Logansport Art Association and Logansport High School.

We have no paid staff at all — we are a 100% volunteer organization, with a Board of Directors that oversee operations.  Our board members are listed on our website.  We also have a page on the McHale Performing Arts Center website thanks to McHale Facility Manager Ken Fraza.

Civic Players of Logansport is a 501c3 non-profit organization; our mission is “To encourage and contribute to the cultural improvement of the community through the use of the theatrical arts, including regular presentation of theatrical productions.” In addition to being a theatre group, our organization performs many civic responsibilities, such as ringing bells each Christmas season at the Salvation Army kettles, volunteering for events held by other organizations, working with the Cass County Historical Society on historical productions, and donating show tickets to other non-profits (including the Chamber of Commerce, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Ivy Tech) for their fundraisers. We also award an annual scholarship to help a deserving high school student with college expenses.

You can reach Civic Players of Logansport by mail at PO Box 31, Logansport, IN 46947.
