Lawrence Thomas “Larry” Chomko, 67, of Peru, passed away Dec. 16, 2015, in his home.
Born September 15, 1948, in Monessen, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Peter and Elizabeth “Betty” Chomko.
Larry was a graduate of Monessen High School and the University of Iowa. In 1970, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and continued to serve as a reservist until 1978.
Larry was retired from the Logansport State Hospital. He had previously worked at Roeing and Rockwell.
As a young man, Larry achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He was very proud of his son for carrying on the tradition of being an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards, history and spending time with his son and grandson.
Larry is survived by his son, Patrick Chomko, of Logansport; grandson Eli Chomko, of Logansport; one brother Ron (Barbara) Chomko of Nevada; and two nieces Stacey and Lisa and their families. Also surviving are extended family members in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Florida, Colorado and Canada.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Bryan Chomko.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Larry Chomko will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016, in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Damon Soper officiating.
Interment, with full military rites, will be in Legion Circle, Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.
A gathering of family and friends will take place two hours prior to the Jan. 16th service in the funeral chapel.
