Leonel Urtiz Vega

Leonel  Urtiz Vega, age 45, Logansport, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at 12:26 p.m., in the emergency room at Memorial Hospital.

Born in Tecoman, Colima, Mexico on December 2, 1970, he was the son of Jesus Urtiz Ramirez and Elena Vega Ortiz.

He was married to Patricia Urtiz who survives, in Logansport.

Leonel had been a blender operator at Tyson Foods for nearly 16 years.

He was a wonderful father, husband, brother, uncle, and friend to all.  Being a family man, he loved farming his land and tending to his cattle in his hometown.

He enjoyed playing and watching soccer.

Leonel was a very welcoming man to anyone who came to his home, and always had a helping hand for anyone.  His work, home, and family were his life.

A member of All Saints Catholic Church, he was devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Also surviving are his mother, Elena Vega Ortiz; sons, Jose E. Urtiz and Leo A. Urtiz; brothers, German Urtiz Vega, Mexico and Ignacio Urtiz Vega, Logansport; sisters, Marivel Montano and Dalia Urtiz Vega, both of Logansport; aunt, Paula Vega Ortiz, Mexico, and several nieces and nephews.

His father preceded him in death.

The Funeral Mass will be conducted on Monday, June 27, 2016, at 10:00 A.M., at All Saints Catholic Church, with Father Clayton Thompson officiating.

Visitation will be on Sunday, June 26, 2016, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., at Kroeger Funeral Home, followed by the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m.

Interment will be in Colima, Colima, Mexico.

Memorial contributions may be made to assist in the family’s expenses for traveling to his burial in Mexico.
