Homer V. Smith

Homer V. Smith, 89 of Twelve Mile, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2016 in his residence.
Born on May 18, 1927 in Auburn, IN he was the 3rd of 6 children to the late Ashton V. and Mary (Goe) Smith. On July 7, 1957 he married Gloria Crist who survives.
Homer was a former teacher, and principal for one year, at Metea, Twelve Mile, North Fulton and Caston Schools. He was a long time member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Homer also worked at Disney World in Orlando where he and his wife spent their winter months and were very active volunteering in the “Give Kids the World” program.
Surviving along with his wife Gloria, are two daughters, Lisa (Jeff) Dague, Monticello; Cristi (Todd) Doty, Twelve Mile; two sons, Steve (Melonie) Smith, Clermont, FL; James Edward Smith, Kissimmee, FL; grandchildren, Kenlyn, Bailey, and Ashton Smith; Cameron, Brock, and Alyssa Miller; Zachary Dague; Amber Esteban; Quinton and Keegan Doty; great grandchildren, Liam, Parker, and Katelynn Miller; brother, Chester Smith, Michigan; three sisters, Lois Stebing; Ramona Rohm, both of Auburn, IN; Violet (Larry) Hansche, Columbia, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Tanya Sue Smith; and a brother, Estel Smith.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Bethlehem United Methodist Church with Pastor George Hapner and Pastor Adam Speicher officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem United Methodist Cemetery, Twelve Mile.
Visitation will take place at Gundrum Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. There will also be additional visitation time at Bethlehem United Methodist Church beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service in the church.
